CALL FOR “A SLIDE SEMINAR: SELECTED CASES OF GENITOURINARY PATHOLOGY”

Abstract information

Macedonian Association of Pathology invites you to participate actively on the 2nd Macedonian Congress of Pathology with International Participation. This will be the excellent opportunity to exchange of thoughts and experiences. We look forward to receiving abstracts online for consideration and inclusion in the scientific programme as oral or poster presentation.

The deadline for abstract submission is April, 15 2016.

The Scientific Board will review all the abstracts and will judge them according to the relevance, objectivity of statement, description of what was done, scientific value, conclusions confirmed by objective results, ethics, originality of work and overall impression.

The abstract notification information (acceptance or rejection) will be sent by June 1, 2016. All accepted abstracts will be published in an abstract book.

Registration to the Congress and payment of registration fee is compulsory to be able to present the abstract and get it published in the abstract book and must be completed by June 30, 2016. If the speaker fails to register and pay before June 30, 2016, his / her abstract will be excluded from the scientific programme.

Notification of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee will be mailed to the presenting author. Detailed information in which format the abstract is accepted (poster presentation or oral presentation), guidelines and recommendations for poster presentation, oral presentation as well as time allotment, date, hour, and venue will be sent in due time to registered presenting authors.

Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts

  • Please choose a title that clearly indicates the content of the contribution. Abbreviations in the title should be avoided. The complete title should not be capitalized.
  • The author's name (full first name, family name) and affiliation (institution, city, and country) should be indicated. Degrees, titles, street addresses and acknowledgements of support should be omitted, however.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted in English and the abstract text should not exceed 250 words.
  • Abstracts are to be structured in the following four specified subtitles: Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusion(s).
  • Оbjective: State the specific objective of the study
  • Material and Methods: Briefly describe methods and materials.
  • Results: Summarise the results from the study and include sufficient evidence to support the results and to identify what changes have emerged.
  • Conclusions: State the conclusions reached
  • Abbreviations in the text may be used, if they are defined when used first.
  • No references should be included
  • Please ensure that the abstract does not contain spelling, grammar or scientific errors, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted.

NOTE: The presenting author is expected to attend and register for the Congress and present the poster or oral presentation. One person may only present up to two abstracts at the congress, but may be a co-author of more. The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.

When submitting an abstract, please choose one of the following topics:

  • Gastrointestinal pathology
  • Gynaecological Pathology
  • Breast Pathology
  • Cytopathology
  • Other Topics.


Presentation Types

There are four types of presentations: Oral, Poster and Case Presentation or Slide Seminars of Breast and Genitourinary Pathology. Upon submission, authors must select their preferred presentation type. However, the final decision will be decided by the Scientific Committee, taking into account the content and availability of sessions.


Guidelines for Submission

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

  • Presenting author's contact details:
  • Email address
  • Full postal address
  • Phone number

Presentation type – please choose from one of the following:

  • Poster presentation
  • Oral presentation

Author and co-authors' details: (maximum of 10 authors)

  • Full first and family name(s)
  • Affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if relevant), country

Abstract title - limited to 25 words in Sentence Structure

Abstract text – limited to 250 words (Please Note: Word count is affected when graphs/tables are added)

Abstract topic – abstracts must be allocated to a specific topic for the Scientific Program. Please choose from the list of topics.

Tables and Graphs – Tables and graphs should not be included.

Images – A maximum of 5 images can be included per abstract only if you submit a case for slide seminars (see: Call for “A Slide Seminar: Selected Cases of Breast Pathology” and Call for “A Slide Seminar: Selected Cases of Genitourinary Pathology”).

The minimum file size of each graph/image is 2 MB. You may upload graphs in JPG, GIF or PNG format.

A disclosure of conflict of interest is mandatory.

IMPORTANT: You may access and edit your abstract until you are finished, when you will have to close it by confirming that you are submitting the final version and claiming for an e-mail confirmation for your abstract submission.


Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentation Guidelines


The Speakers` Preview Room will be located in the Kaneo Hall of Hotel Metropol, Ohrid. Speakers are asked to hand in their CD-ROM or USB stick containing the Power Point presentation (IBM format or compatible, no multisession) preferably one day before their presentation, but at the latest three hours prior to their presentation. On-site technical staff will offer support. Due to the time and technical reasons we kindly ask all the speakers not to use their own notebook. In the Speakers` Preview Room there will be several PC working stations, where speakers can also work and do the final check on their presentation charts in the quiet area. Technical staff will be happy to assist.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • Poster viewings will be held from Friday, 2 September to Sunday, 4 September 2016 in the Ohrid Hall of Hotel Metropol, Ohrid.
  • These sessions offer an effective forum for the exchange of information and a means to communicate ideas, research, and programmes. Poster authors are required to be available for questions and further information at their poster board during the morning session break (10:00 – 10:30).
  • At this congress, posters will be grouped by topic for the convenience of those attending the sessions.
  • Posters will be changed daily and are on display for the entire day of the respective poster session. They will be sorted by topic and will be numbered within the respective topic. As an example; Poster Session Genitourinary Pathology PS-01-03: PS = poster, 01 = session, 03 = abstract
  • The poster exhibition is open to all conference delegates on
    • Friday, 2 September 2016 09:00 - 17:00
    • Saturday 3 September 2016 09:00 - 17:00
    • Sunday 4 September 2016 09:00 - 17:00
  • Hanging and removal of posters:
    • Hanging: The day of display between 07:30 and 09:00
    • Removal: The day of display between 17:00 and 18:00
    • Posters that have not been taken off at 18:00 will be disposed of.

Poster Format

The entire poster can have a maximum size of 170 cm high x 80 cm wide (portrait style). The poster does not necessarily have to fill the entire working area. Material for attaching the posters to the poster walls is available at the poster counter in the poster area in the Ohrid Hall of Hotel Metropol. For the font of your poster, it is recommended to use large, semi-bold letters, at least 5 mm high. The text should be easily legible from a distance of 2 - 3 m. Poster presenters are requested to disclose potential conflicts of interest regarding the poster presentation at the bottom of their poster. This will allow the audience to take potential conflicts of interest into account when assessing the objectivity of the presentation. Our staff at the poster counter in the Ohrid Hall of Hotel Metropol will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

CALL FOR “A SLIDE SEMINAR: SELECTED CASES OF BREAST PATHOLOGY”

Dear Colleagues.

The Macedonian Association of Pathology, in cooperation with the European Society of Pathology Working Group of Breast Pathology are announcing ‘A Slide Seminar of Selected Cases of Breast Pathology’ as a part of the European School of Pathology Workshop: Breast pathology in 21st century in the upcoming 2nd Macedonian Congress of Pathology, to be held Ohrid from 1-4 September, 2016.
The slide seminar is scheduled for Saturday, September 3, from 14.30 to 17.00.
In addition to the cases (six) presented by the faculty staff of the ESP Workshop additional 6 cases will be selected from the cases submitted.
Pathologists are invited to submit cases. Especially, young pathologists, graduate students and residents are encouraged to submit a case. Surgical pathology cases that presented a diagnostic challenge or represent a rare entity are solicited. Presentations will be 10 minutes in length; a discussion will be scheduled at the end of the session for all of the cases.
The participant should submit an abstract using the Congress website and upload a maximum of 5 microphotographs of the case submitted. Subsequently if required the participant should be prepared to send one tissue block.
Deadline for submission is April, 15, 2016. Cases will be reviewed by the Faculty staff of the ESP Workshop and selected for presentation. Tissue blocks will be returned to the senders after case selection. The cases that will not be included in the Slide Seminar will be presented in the Poster Session.
